A female brewer from Taybeh

I am a regular reader of International Catholic News. A recent post contained the news that the Faith Justice Bible Podcast has launched a new series of interviews, spotlighting voices from Palestine (https://www.indcatholicnews.com/news/55584). I was particularly inspired by an interview with Madees Khoury, a Christian Palestinian living in Taybeh, near Ramallah. Madees is the only female brew master in the Middle East. She speaks about her life, her business; and the struggles of checkpoint delays, settler violence, and restricted movement. But through these struggles one can sense a deep commitment to the land and to her community.

We hear much about Christian Palestinians leaving Palestine because of discrimination, occupation, and genocide. Madees, and her brother Canaan too, are counter witnesses to this trend as they returned to Taybeh after studying abroad.

Taybeh Beer is one of the best-known products coming out of the West Bank. Please visit the website: https://taybehbeer.com

I strongly recommend listening to Madees and with a bottle of beer from Taybeh (where it is available). And if you cannot find it on the shelves, try to get your locale to import it. Another way to support Palestine! (cf. here: https://taybehbeer.com/location/)
