Hassen Lorgat is a South African social activist and has devoted much time and energy to raising consciousness about what has been happening in Gaza during the genocide and calling for a free Palestine.
In the shorter video I am sending you, Hassen shares what he discovered about recent coverage if Palestine/Israel in the South African press. He has demanded accountability in the cover up of Israeli sponsored journalism that amounts to no small amount of propaganda and the obscuring of the voice of Palestinians.
In the longer video, the focus on what is happening with regard to Israeli-sponsored visits to Palestine/Israel by journalists, social media influencers and religious practitioners is preceded by two other fascinating reports: one on the role of AI in the media and the other on Francesca Albanese, who has fallen victim to the doctoring of recordings by pro-Israel activists.
The shorter video, and even more so the longer one, raises the question of whether we can believe what we hear. It certainly also warns us to be very careful about which media we tune into and exhorts us to do a check on the sources used.
