Comfortably Numb

Watch here a new interpretation of “Comfortably Numb”, a collaboration between Roger Waters, co-founder of the musical group Pink Floyd, and Palestinian artist Mona Miari. Featuring newly written verses in English and Arabic, the work reframes the song through themes of displacement, memory, loss, and the enduring pursuit of justice and human dignity.

Waters and Miari have released this reimagined, acoustic version of Pink Floyd’s 1979 classic “Comfortably Numb” in June 2026 dedicated to Gaza. The collaboration replaces the original’s electric guitar solos with Middle Eastern arrangements and Arabic vocals, featuring a segment titled “Hind’s Lullaby” honoring six-year-old Hind Rajab, gunned down with her whole family.

As I sit listening to Roger Waters’ haunting guitar and vocals accompanied by Mona Miari’s powerful, emotive performance, I find myself praying again for the people of Gaza. The work of Palestinian photographer Suhail Nassar and his Emmy-recognised crew serves as a reminder that the visual language of this project belongs to those living and documenting the genocide, not to outsiders parachuting into the aesthetics of war.
