Father David on Across the Divide: Can Catholics be Zionists?

Across the Divide is a podcast directed by Daniel Banoura. Daniel is a Palestinian theologian from Bethlehem and podcaster, and postdoc at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, US, where he received his PhD degree in Qur’anic Studies. His research focuses on the history and redaction of the Qur’an, Christian-Muslim relations, and Palestinian theology. Daniel is the U.S. advocacy coordinator of the Bethlehem Institute for Peace and Justice.

Across the Divide is a podcast that provides a space for thoughtful conversations about Palestine/Israel through the lens of faith and peace-making. It explores the intersection of Christian faith and social justice in Palestine/Israel. Through a diversity of voices, the podcast cultivates constructive dialogue on biblical theology, peacebuilding, and the pursuit of a just future.

Father David Neuhaus, SJ, was Daniel’s guest in order to discuss the recent controversies surrounding Carrie Prejean Boller where she asserted at a Religious Liberty Commission hearing that Catholics cannot be Zionists. Fr. Neuhaus explores the history of Nostra Aetate and Jewish-Catholic dialogue, and also reflects on the war on Iran and the Just War Tradition.
