In search of Palestine – episode 2
As wars with Iran and Lebanon draw the attention of the world, let us not forget the violence in Gaza and the West Bank!
A journalist for The Guardian, Matthew Cassel, continues his travels through the Palestinian West Bank to document what daily life looks like under deepening occupation. Having left behind Hebron and Bethlehem, he moves to Ramallah and finally Nablus. He continues to ask: what does the idea of a ‘Palestinian state’ mean today? This includes stops in Ramallah and Nablus but also at a gas station where he talks to Israeli settlers.
I was particularly moved by the short interview with Maryam Barghouthi in Ramallah. The documentary offers images that show reality today, made even worse by the wars in the region. This is the second part of the series.
