Preaching the Gospel in Time of the Ongoing Genocide in Gaza

This webinar, presented by Priests Against Genocide, offers the background and tools needed to preach a clear, prophetic message on Gaza — one that can break through denial and resistance to a complex moral crisis.

Presenters: Professor Omer Bartov (Brown University, one of the world’s foremost scholars of genocide), Cardinal Álvaro Ramazzini (Guatemala), and Fr. David Neuhaus, S.J. (a Jesuit of Jewish background who has lived and taught in Israel).

The program includes a full Q&A session and concrete next steps for action beyond the pulpit — including the Gaza’s Children Shroud campaign.

Professor Omer Bartov is an Israeli American historian and the dean professor of Holocaust and genocide studies at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He was born in Israel and educated at Tel Aviv University and St. Anthony’s College, Oxford. He is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading authorities on genocide.

Cardinal Álvaro Ramazzini is often referred to as a frontier bishop and for good reason. He was he has dedicated his ministry to social justice in Guatemala. He has championed the rights of indigenous Mayan communities, migrants and the poor. He has also played a key role in advocating for peace during Guatemala’s civil war. As a result, Cardinal Ramazzini has faced continuous danger, intimidation, and death threats.

Father David Neuhaus SJ is an Israeli Jesuit priest who was born in South Africa to a Jewish family. He is a long-term member of the Holy Land Catholic Church’s Justice and Peace Commission. He has written widely on scripture, Jewish Christian relations and the pastoral relevance of what is unfolding in Israel and Palestine today. His book “Conquest or Leaven” has been published by the Jesuit Institute in South Africa and in the USA by Orbis Books.
